Scouts

Archery, bivouacking, caving, canoeing, cooking, crate climbing, first-aid, giant catapaults, high ropes, hillwalking, kayaking, lazer tag, orienteering, rapping, shooting, skiing, swimming, wide games… our Scout Troop is your ticket to adventure.

Our Scout Troop is for young people aged between 10½ and 14 years. It is the third and final Section in our Scout Group.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of our programme. “Participation” rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for their achievements there are a number of Challenge Awards and Activity Badges they can earn.

Scouts take part in a balanced programme that supports them in developing skills they’ll use throughout their life. Our programme helps them find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and help develop their creative talents. It helps them to develop their sense of self reliance and nurtures their leadership skills whilst demonstrating the value of team work and cooperation. It also provides opportunities for them to explore their own values and personal attitudes.

Being outdoors is important and a good chunk of our programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping and cooking as well as a wide range of adventurous activities. The culmination of our Scouting year is our Summer Camp where we try to fit as many activities into one week as we can!

Our Scouts meet every Wednesday evening during school term-time from 7.45pm to 9pm in the Hall of The Harbour Totterdown (formerly Totterdown Methodist Church).
